Sometimes, getting started with casino slots or online slot machines can be a little confusing, so here’s a list of Top Ten Slots Tips to ensure that make the most of your visit and your bankroll the next time you play slot machine games.

Have Valid Identification

When lady luck smiles on you and your bankroll it would be a bummer not to be able to accept a nice big cheque because you forgot to bring your identification. So make sure you have valid identification with you and keep it in a safe place.

Learn to Read the Pay Tables

Looking at the pay table of the machine can help you judge the frequency that the machine returns a winner. If you see that there are a lot of combinations that return smaller wins, then this machine will usually have a larger hit frequency than one that has fewer winning combinations that pay back larger wins. Some players like a lot of smaller wins more often.

Lock Up a Profit

If you hit a jackpot, make sure that you “lock up” a profit. Take your initial playing stakes and some profit and set it aside. Play with a small percentage of you new winnings. Few things are worse than the see-saw feeling of being a winner one minute and then giving all your winnings back to the casino the next. Take a little break after a hitting a jackpot, savor the moment and take some time out to enjoy that winning feeling.

Keep an Activity Log

If you hit a jackpot over $1,200 in a land based casino you will be given a W2-G and your winnings will be reported to the IRS. Whether you play slot machines in the local casino or online slots in virtual Vegas, your gaming activity log can be used to offset your winnings come tax time.

Relax, Take Your Time

Slow down when you are playing slot machines. It’s not a game show where prizes are awarded to the player hitting the spin button the fastest. Don’t double dip, playing more than one slot machine at a time just increases your exposure to the house edge. In the long run you will just deplete your bankroll faster.

Manage Your Bankroll

Never bring non-disposable income meant for other expenses to the casino. If you can’t afford to lose it then don’t even bring it into the casino. Break you casino bankroll down into several playing sessions to avoid fatigue. Between slots games, take a stroll, eat something and remember to never risk your entire bankroll in one playing session.

Credits Are Money

Once you put your money into the bill receptor it is converted into machine credits. You must remember that credits on a slot machine are real money. Put lower denomination bills into the machine to start with makes it easier to keep track of how much you’re putting in. Split $100 into five twenty’s and switch if your machine still isn’t paying out after the first $20 is played out.

Cash Out Smartly

When you are finished with your slots session, ensure that you’ve cashed out and collected all your coins from the tray or received your voucher ticket from the slot machine. Do this right away before you collect your personal belongings. Go directly to the cage. Don’t walk around with a bucket of coins. They can be spilled or lost if you set them down. If you are playing a coinless machine that pays you with a paper voucher make sure you cash it in. Some of these have an expiration date making them worthless after a certain period of time.

Don’t Purchase Slot Systems

Slot systems which claim they can reveal which machine is ready to hit are questionable at best. The Random Number Generator (RNG) determines the winning combinations of the machine and as such there’s no way to determine if a machine is “due” to pay out or not.

Have Fun

Slot machines have a larger house edge than other traditional casino games. While winning is nice, in the long run you will pay to play slot machines. Consider the cost as your price for entertainment. Pick a slot machine that you think you’ll enjoy and have fun.

Many disappointed gamblers gather together to discuss their country’s ban of internet gambling. On October 13, 2006, President George W. Bush signed a bill into affect that banned internet gambling. More specifically, banks and other credit cards, e-wallets, etc, which transfer the money back and forth. Though many see it as a clear-cut case of Christian values being forced upon a "free" country, the logical see it as nothing more than the government’s way of cracking down on tax evasion.

If a person visits one of the United States’ legitimate casinos, i.e. one of the Trump monstrosities in Atlantic City, then he or she is taxed on their winnings. But if that same person has free reign to slowly drain $50,000 from their internet account, $3,000 at a time, how would it be taxed? Regardless of what is true and what is false, this situation is sticky for all gambling lovers.

This Nation of Nations, which was constructed to be an equal opportunity land, by the people and for the people, has always been about the few, discarding the many. In ancient Rome, members of the senate would crucify a citizen for not paying homage to the gods. Even in Tudor England, 2,000 years later, men and women were slaughtered for not abiding to the chosen faith.

The United States of America was supposedly better than that. Since its inception, people have fought hard just to live. All the while, non-believers have been crucified due to some black book which has herds of people believing they can reside in the belly of a whale. Not that religion is evil by and large. People in power just tend to take things to the extreme. And for the United States, this is the first among many, many things that make the powers-that-be total hypocrites. They’re supposedly fighting religious fanaticism, yet they demonstrate and impose their misguided righteousness on their citizenry’s pastimes.

The bible clearly states, depending on which thumper you ask, that gambling is a sin against God almighty himself. So even if the legislation to ban gambling has nothing to do with America’s affinity for ghostly obsession, it will be a cold day in Hell before the 99% religious congress ever does anything to overturn the decision. If only that were the real reason for the ban on gambling, it may be simpler to swallow the bitter pill.

As gamblers, we can eat a teaspoon of sugar while attempting to backdoor the crazies. But it’s deeper than that. It’s more important than tradition. It has to do with money. Sure, you would think that the government stands to profit by letting us play, but they won’t. How many gamblers would actually report their winnings honestly?

Let us not forget that the Republican Party is all about family values. If John Q loses his money gambling, Jenney Q and Johnny JR are without a breadwinner. Not to mention that John can’t pay an outrageously high percentage of his paycheck if he loses his job.

The UIGEA says that we cannot deposit or profit from online gambling, but they left us a loophole that the 400-pound elephant can easily jump through.

As of now, we’re left as a group to find alternative means of funding our habits. If you believe you have a right to gamble online then go for it! Run a quick Google search and find out about dozens of methods you can use to fund the casino or poker room of your choice. The world, as crazy and hopeless as it is today, will not change anytime soon. The best thing we can do is jump in a game to take our minds off it.

Although US players will still not be able to make use of the feature, payment processor Paypal is once again processing online gambling transactions.

The turnaround in Paypal’s policy towards online gambling transactions has begun in the UK market with a move to allowing online bingo, poker and casino sites to once again make use of its nearly instantaneous money transfer service.

Industry insiders speculate that the move comes after major players in thye search ads market opted to allow gambling advertising in the UK and that Paypal may be preparing itself to enter the US gambling market should UIGEA be repealed. According to a recent study, the US gambling market could be worth 12 Billion Dollars annually if opened.

For now only a handful of UK casino and bingo operators will be offering Paypal as a payment option, but Paypal assured players of secure transactions without the need to reveal sensitive finacial data to operators in the form of bank account or credit card numbers.

According to a report by Online Casino Advisory, Paypal still seems to be operating cautiously to avoid legal entanglements with US authorities and the move is seen by observers as the beginning of a reversal of the online gambling ban.

Poker rooms are hungrier than ever to keep players happy. If you’re an online poker player you should definitely think about maximizing the bonuses you receive from playing. Most advanced players settle on rakeback. A rakeback provider is a poker affiliate who will deal with the poker rooms for you and pay back a percentage of the rake you pay at the tables. Obviously this scales up the more you play and is a bonus which keeps on giving – unlike one time signup or reload bonuses.

There are several providers online and it’s worth choosing a reputable site as once you sign up through an affiliate you are usually stuck with them for as long as you play at a particular poker room. Nobody wants to give up their Full Tilt account because they’ve dealt with a bad affiliate. We can recommend rakeiteasy.com as they pay out on time, have great support and offer a large variety of poker rooms.

What is rake?

You might be wondering exactly what rake is. It varies a little from room to room but essentially rake is how the online poker rooms make money. They take a small percentage (usually around 5%) of each pot. It’s capped at a few dollars per pot. Although each piece of rake is small this soon adds up. A regular player can rake 100′s or 1000′s of dollars each month.

What is rakeback?

A major source of players for poker rooms is affiliate marketing. Whenever you see a site offering poker room reviews or bonus codes they are receiving a cut of the profit from every player they send on to a poker room. Rakeback affiliates share this cut with the players they refer. A standard rakeback deal will give the player back about 30% of the rake they pay. The affiliate keeps a small amount and the poker rooms see this as a good way to offer a loyalty bonus to players.

How much can I make?

It will vary greatly player to player. The more you play, and the higher the stakes, the more rake you will pay and thus the more rakeback you can receive. It will also depend on the site you play at. Generally the bigger the room the smaller the payout. Popular poker rooms offer around 30% rakeback while new poker rooms will offer up to 50%. Trying out a new room can pay out some really nice bonuses.

A big misconception is that rakeback is only worthwhile to high stakes players. In fact because the amount of rake is capped small stakes players suffer more from rake. If you’re trying to build up your bankroll then rakeback will definitely help. If you want to see how much you could be receiving then have a look at this rakeback calculator.

How do I get started?

To get rakeback you will often need to sign up for a new poker room account. It can sometimes be added to an existing account but that will depend on the policy of the poker room and whether you originally signed up through an affiliate. If you did then you’re usually out of luck. Contact your rakeback provider with your poker room account details and they’ll see what they can do.

Our friends at rakeiteasy have over 25 poker rooms on offer including the big names like Full Tilt, PKR, Cake Poker, Ultimate Bet and Carbon Poker. Go check out their offers and see if you could be benefiting.
